Eyelash extensions are the key to thick and fluttery lashes that make your eyes the focal point of your face. The adhesive is used to glue individual lashes to each individual natural lash. The look can be tailored to your unique style, by choosing the length, thickness and colour of the lash.
7 Tips To Making Your Eyelash Extensions Last Longer
Every 8 weeks your natural lashes will drop out as a natural cycle of growth and more will grow in their place. Eyelash extensions fall out with your shedding natural lashes during this cycle and can be more noticeable as they are longer and easier to spot.
The aftercare for eyelash extensions can be confusing, so follow our quick and easy tips to keep your eyelashes in pristine condition, prolonging your lashes for as long as possible.
1. Consider your choice of eye make-up
We recommend that you only use water-based, non-waterproof mascara. Avoid oil-based eye makeup remover for the duration you have eyelash extensions, so you don’t weaken the bonds to your natural lashes. Using makeup tools such as eyelash curlers may also dislodge lashes and is not recommended.
2. Avoid Water and Steam For The First 48 Hours
Avoid water for 2 hours after getting your lashes applied. Then try to steer clear of getting your lashes wet for the first 48 hours following the eyelash extension application. Wherever possible avoid immersing your lashes in water for prolonged periods of time.
Dry your face gently
When you have washed your face, make sure you don’t forget to dry it gently. Use a towel and dab delicately around your face, making sure not to rub over the eye area.
3. Ask your Lash Specialist for Infills
A month or so after you have your lashes applied you can get infill lashes to prolong your extensions. Some lashes may be starting to fall out at this point. This is cheaper than reapplying a full set and means your lash line looks fuller for longer.
4. Don't Play With Them
The oils on your fingers can weaken the glue to your natural lashes, so avoid touching your eyes wherever possible.
5. Sleep on your back
Pressing your face and eyes into your pillowcase can loosen your lashes, causing them to fall out quicker. Try to sleep on your back to avoid disturbing them in your sleep.
6. Comb Them Regularly
Easier said than done… Yep, we hear you!!! BUT…. Brushing your lashes with a clean lash brush will keep them from crisscrossing and look fresh with every comb.
7. Always Use Oil-Free Makeup Remover
While washing your eyes, try to use a mild, low-alkaline soap and an oil-free makeup remover. We don’t want you losing lashes - that’s for sure!
You have invested in your beautiful long, voluminous lashes, and we want you to protect them! So to prolong your eyelash extensions avoid water for 48 hours after the appointment, use oil-free makeup remover and avoid sleeping face down.
Regardless, your natural lashes shed daily and the extension will shed right along with them, so to keep your lashes looking fabulous you will need regular fills, about every two weeks.
Schedule your lash fill appointments regularly will save you money on regular refills and make sure you’re always looking and feeling your best!
