1. Trim it on a regular basis:
Trimming your hair prevents your hair’s split ends from unravelling even more and allowing the area of damaged hair to become larger. Cut as much as you deem necessary to remove damaged hair, and try to trim every two to three months to avoid damage from buildings up.
2. Shampoo and condition correctly:
Your hair care products should contain hair ingredients like natural oils and humectants think — argan oil, Shea butter or coconut water can work wonders on dry hair.
3. Oils and serum:
The right hair oil or serum can make your hair shiny and healthy. You only need a little, but make sure you apply it evenly to reap the benefits.
4. Brave the cold:
Rinse your hair with cold water. It helps lock conditioner into your hair by closing the cuticles in your hair. Try a blast of cold water at the end of your shower and enjoy the results of healthy glossy hair
Hair masks – what are they all about?
Hair masks are the perfect way to help reduce breakage and make your hair feel healthy.
How to hydrate your hair in the summer?
1. Deep condition regularly
2. Use a moisturizing shampoo
3. Avoid hot tools
4. Brush carefully
5. Cover up
6. Drink water

Our goal at Lavoom is that our guest love their hair and their experience. If for any reason you are dissatisfied, please let us know here.
How often should I come in for a brow shaping?
Everyone’s hair growth cycle is different, therefore the time between appointments can vary from 4-6 weeks. If you have minimal or slow hair growth and are trying to grow out your eyebrows, we recommend waiting longer between appointments. If your hair grows in very quickly, we recommend starting off with a length of time between bookings that allows the hairs to fully grow in. Once all hairs in the area have grown in, we wax the unwanted hairs to bring everything to the same hair growth pattern. From then on, we recommend leaving 4-6 weeks between appointments. Ultimately, your appointment frequency should be based on your personal preference and brow needs.
What will happen during my shaping appointment?
Our Brow Specialists will start all Brow Bar appointments with a consultation. The consultation portion of each appointment is so we can understand what you are looking to achieve, allow us to cover all pertinent information and answer any of your questions before beginning. Your Brow Specialist will cleanse the brow area and prep you for the shaping. They will map out the brows using our precise formula and measurement system and show you exactly which hairs they will leave and which ones they will remove. We always make sure you approve the shape and know exactly what your brows will look like post-appointment. The Brow Specialist will wax or tweeze your brows, depending on your specific request and their professional opinion based on the consultation. As the service is taking place, they will check-in with you to ensure you are feeling comfortable. The Brow Specialist will have you approve the shape and design once the waxing or tweezing is complete and you will have a chance to let your artist know if you would like more hair removed. Our Brow Specialists are trained to be conservative with the shapes and work within your comfort level. Once the final shape has been approved, your Brow Specialist will apply an aftercare lotion to help soothe the skin and offer to fill your brows in for you if you would prefer to leave the appointment with photo-ready brows!
How can I be confident that my Brow Specialist will not wax away too much hair?
At Lavoom Salon, we start with the most important step; brow mapping! Brow mapping is a system our Brow Specialists use to measure out where your brows should start, where the arch should be and where the tail should end. An outline is then drawn to define the suggested shape of the brow and allow the client to make any adjustments before starting with the waxing service. With client approval, the artist will only wax the areas outside of the agreed-upon shape. We will check with you multiple times throughout the appointment to ensure you are comfortable with the areas that are being waxed. Our goal is for you to be confident and informed every step of the way.
Is there a charge for new client consultations?
There is no charge for the consultation itself; if you choose to include shape and tint during your appointment, the charge will be $35 + tax instead of the regular shape and tint price of $45 +tax. As a new client, you receive $10 off your first Brow Bar appointment with us.
Is waxing painful?
Pain during your brow shaping appointment is dependent on how thick your hair follicles are. The thicker the hair, the more pain may be noticed. If you have fine, thin hairs, pain is virtually non-existent. We work in very small areas at a time to ensure the pain is tolerable and redness is minimized. To reduce pain risk, we advise that you avoid sunbathing, tanning, and any kind of skin peel treatments for at least 24 hours before waxing and inform your Brow Specialist if you’re taking any medication or using skin products that could make your skin more sensitive than normal.
What are the benefits of brow tinting?
If you’re looking for a fuss-free way to enhance your natural brows by giving them a bolder look, brow tinting gives long-lasting definition to brow hairs for 2-4 weeks. Tinting is a great option for busy individuals and jet-setters who want perfect, low maintenance brow definition around the clock.
Do you have different shades of tint?
We have several different tint colours and all tints can be left on the brows for various amounts of time to achieve the perfect shade for you. The longer the tint stays on, the darker it will become and the longer it can last on the underlying skin.
How does tinting work?
Tinting is similar to dying your hair. We carefully select and mix a perfect tint for each client and develop the dye with peroxide before applying. We have multiple shades and two different tint brands to ensure we create the perfect shade. Our Brow Specialists stay with you the entire time your tint is processing (1-5 minutes), watching the colour develop to be sure it does not become too dark. Our process involves removing the colour and re-applying until the perfect shade has developed. No risk leaving with jet-black eyebrows here!
How long will my tint last?
Tinting will last anywhere from 2-4 weeks. The length of time that your tinting will last depends on your lifestyle, skincare products, and skin type. The more often you wash your face, the faster the tinting can fade. Other things like sun exposure and harsh skincare products also reduce the time that your tint can last.
Will the tint product tint my skin or just the hair? Does it work on grey brow hair?
Tinting generally only tints the brow hair, however, we are able to leave the tint on longer to tint the underlying skin as well. Note: tint on the skin generally only lasts 1-3 days post-appointment.
The tint will cover grey hairs, but it should be noted that often grey hair is more resistant to tinting than other hair types.
What is Brow Henna?
Brow Henna is a long-lasting brow dye that remains on the skin underneath the brows for up to 2 weeks and stays on the hair for 4-6 weeks. Brow Henna is a solution for clients wanting their brows to remain darker than their natural brow hair colour for the same amount of time that their shaping lasts. It is also a great solution for clients wanting to achieve a more filled-in look without having to use makeup or a brow pencil. Brow Henna also effectively covers grey brow hairs and comes in a variety of different shades.
What is the difference between Brow Tint and Brow Henna?
Brow Tint uses a similar dye that Hair Stylists use. The tint is mixed with a low percentage of hydrogen peroxide (3%) and then applied to the brows for 1-5 minutes and lasts on the hair for 2-4 weeks. Brow Henna is a specially formulated Henna mixture made specifically for eyebrows. The powder is mixed with a specially formulated mineral solution and then applied to the brows for 10-20 minutes. Brow Henna lasts on the brow hair for 4-6 weeks, and on the skin underneath the brow hair for up to 2-weeks! If you have very light eyebrows or do not normally wear a lot of brow makeup, we recommend starting with brow tinting. If you are used to a more filled-in and defined brow, are looking for a longer-lasting solution, have stubborn grey brow hairs, or are looking to camouflage gaps or sparse brow hair, we recommend booking a Brow Henna service.
How do I help with the longevity of my brow tint or Brow Henna?
The most important factor in extending the longevity of brow tint and Brow Henna is to not get the brow area wet for 24 hours after application. Also, exercising caution when applying any type of skin care products containing exfoliators (topical acne medications, retinol, lightening products, alpha hydroxy acids, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, glycolic acid etc.) Keep all of these away from your brows as they will strip them of their colour and could harm the hair as well.
Why do some people get little bumps the day after waxing even if no oil products were used?
Our hair resides in the follicles in the skin. When hair is waxed, it causes stress on the skin and skin can become inflamed. Inflammation can also be due to folliculitis. Folliculitis is defined as a pimple-like rash involving the hair follicles. Each tender pink bump has a small fluid-filled head at the skin’s surface. If the waxing was done on the face or chest, folliculitis can be easily confused with an acne breakout. In most cases, folliculitis after waxing represents a minor infection of the hair follicles that have been left open to bacteria on the skin surface due to hair removal. In some cases, there is no infection of the hair follicles and folliculitis develops from irritation alone.
The likelihood of developing skin bumps after waxing differs depending on how sensitive your skin is, the area being waxed, the product being used and the waxing technique.
A cool compress or shower after waxing may help reduce immediate, post-wax irritation. Using an over-the-counter cortisone cream on the treatment area for a day or two might also reduce inflammation and any itching that may present itself. A soothing, moisturizing lotion can also be helpful. It's best to avoid swimming in unchlorinated water or using a hot tub within 24 to 48 hours after body or bikini waxing to avoid folliculitis.
Superficial folliculitis typically does not require topical or oral antibiotics and will go away on its own. You'll need to keep the area clean and avoid sharing towels or clothing with others until the infection clears. See your doctor if you develop large or growing bumps, especially if you experience a fever, the redness appears to be spreading or you experience other symptoms.
Another great tip is to use baking soda and warm water to make a paste and gently exfoliate the area twice a day. You should also use a scent-free moisturizing lotion.
Why do you apply pressure to the skin after waxing?
Applying pressure directly to the skin after waxing each section helps to relieve discomfort. It restricts blood and oxygen flow to the nerves in the area which causes discomfort.
What is Youth Brow Shaping?
Our Youth Brow Shaping is for clients aged 14 years old and younger. Youth’s brows have not yet fully grown into their adult shape and therefore our goal is to keep them as luscious as possible. Youth Brow Shapings are at a reduced price and will include a clean up of the middle brow area, the underneath growth and on the tops of the brows if requested. All new clients are asked to book a New Client Consultation for their first appointment so that we are able to go over all of our services and make a plan for each client and their brows. After a plan has been made, a Youth Brow Shaping can be booked for all future services and can include a lip-wax add on if requested.
Who can't get a Brow Shaping, Brow Tint, or Brow Henna service?
Please advise your Brow Specialist if you use any thinning facial serums or creams such as Retin A, any form of retinoids, or acne medications such as Accutane. We will be able to perform a tweeze-only version of our Brow Shaping service for you, as to not tear any vulnerable skin. For Brow Henna, a patch test would be to ensure you do not have a sensitivity or allergy to an active ingredient in Brow Henna called PPD. However, an extremely low percent of PPD is present in the brands of Brow Henna, and Brow Tint used at Brows by G. We also have a PPD-free and vegan Brow Tint option that can be requested at any Brow Tinting appointment. Clients with a spray tan are advised to wait until all traces of the spray tan have faded before coming in for a Brow Henna or Brow Tint to ensure optimal results.
What is Brow Lamination?
Brow Lamination is a semi-permanent treatment that realigns the direction of brow hair and creates an instant look of added volume, fullness and fluffiness! Lasting 3-5 weeks, Brow Lamination is a solution for clients with stubborn hair growth, course unruly brows, or brows that do not stay in place. Paired with an optional Brow Shaping and/or Brow Tint, Brow Lamination can work wonders and eliminate the need for daily maintenance, even for clients with existing Microblading or Micropigmentation.
This treatment is similar to a ‘Lash Lift’, however, Brow Lamination has been specifically formulated to perfectly shape and set brow hair without over-processing, and while maintaining a PH level that remains gentle on sensitive facial skin. Approved by Health Canada, this 3-step system lasts until the brow hairs have completed their growth cycle.
Who is the ideal candidate for Brow Lamination?
Anyone looking to improve the overall look of their brow
Clients with Sparse Brows
Clients who are growing out their brows
Clients not ready to commit to Microblading or Micropigmentation
Clients with unruly brows
Clients with stubborn natural hair growth patterns
Who cannot get Brow Lamination?
Recent Eye Surgery
Recent Microblading or Micropigmentation (must be healed by 6 weeks)
Brow Henna (within 30-days)
Scar Tissue in the treatment area
Brow Growth Serums
Clients with very thick, dense brow hair
All of the contraindications listed above can affect the integrity of the skin. Being that we are applying a chemical to the skin, the skin needs to meet the requirements in order to execute an ideal result with no irritation.
Does Brow Lamination cause damage to brow hair?
As the popularity of brow lamination quickly grew, so did the need for specialized brow lamination products. Due to a lack of availability of custom formulated lamination products and the absence of proper training, many artists were resorting to using "lash lift serums" to perm the brow hair.
Although all perms operate using the same basic principles of realigning disulphide bonds, traditional perm and lift formulations vary greatly in terms of ingredients and PH levels. Through research, experimentation and experience with both alkaline and acid formulations along many spectrums of the PH scale, many lash lift serums were much too strong and harsh to be used on delicate brow hair and sensitive facial skin - often resulting in inconsistent strengths, processing times, and even damage to brow hair, irritation on the skin and unsatisfactory results because lash lift products were never meant to be used on brow hair and surrounding sensitive facial skin.
Additionally, it's important to note that using lash lift products on the brow area is considered to be an 'out of box' application, meaning, it is not approved or recommended by respective lash lift manufacturers, making 'out of the box' application of lash lift products on the brow hair uninsurable via most insurance providers.
Brow Lamination was created to bridge the gap and provide artists with a specialized brow lamination system complete with customized ingredients and strengths which have been specifically formulated and balanced for use on brow hair. The formula is designed to perfectly shape and set brow hair without over-processing while maintaining a PH level that remains gentle on sensitive facial skin.
What are the aftercare instructions for Brow Lamination?
Do not wet your brows for 24-48 hours
Avoid touching the brow area to the risk of transferring oils
Do not apply makeup to the brows for 24-hours post-treatment
Do not apply Retin A, AHA or exfoliate the brow area for 72-hours before or after the treatment
Do not use any self-tanning products on the face for at least 48-hours post-treatment
Comb the hairs into place each day
Why can't I book Brow Lamination and Brow Henna together
Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to offer Brow Lamination and Brow Henna together in one appointment. The chemicals in Brow Lamination and Brow Henna are NOT compatible. You are able to get these two services, but with 4-weeks in between, for both.

Do you take walk in clients?
YES! It’s what we are known for. We offer both the convenience of just walking in and getting a service done or you can call to make an appointment if you are on a tight schedule. For spa and hair services we do recommend appointments as they are booked with specifically trained staff based on time slots but if one is available when you walk in its all yours. For threading you have the option of just walking in or calling ahead to make an appointment. The only exception is full face threading which we require an appointment.
What is your cancellation policy for appointments?
For all spa and hair services to avoid being charged we require a 24 hour cancellation request prior to your appointment. For threading you can cancel same day without any charge. Our specific cancelation policy is below:
For all day spa and certain salon service appointments a credit card will be required at the time of booking. The time needed for the service(s) or spa package that you schedule is reserved specially for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment(s), we require at least 24 hours advance notice. Failure to reschedule or cancel your appointment(s) with the notice required by this cancellation policy will result in charges to your credit card for the full price of the service(s) that you scheduled.

We will always make things right as we strongly believe you should always enjoy coming to Threads and we appreciate every client that walks through our doors. Feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any concerns, we promise a manager will get back with you!
Can I make appointments for threading?
Yes you can, just give us a call and we would be glad to make an appointment for you. Our appointments are for first available threader only and cannot be made with a specific threader.
I usually go to a specific threader, how can I make sure to get her every time?
We understand that people may have their favorites for a variety of reasons and we will always do our best to accommodate your requests. However threaders’ schedules can vary and we cannot guarantee they will be here on the day you come in. It’s always best to call ahead and verify your particular threader is working that day and what time she is scheduled for lunch. Some tips to help come when we open or earlier in the day and come midweek vs. Friday or Saturdays.
Why don’t you take appointments with specific threaders?
This is probably the number one question from most clients and while it would seem a simple thing to do, it actually gets very complicated quickly. Unlike most salons we designed our system to be walk-in friendly and while we do take limited appointments for time slots throughout the day those time slots are based on the first available threader being available to take the next scheduled appointment. It’s more art than science as we don’t know when a threader will be finished with their current client so if we make an appointment for a specific threader at let’s say 1 pm she may not be done with her current client until much later. While there are economic and management reasons the above is the main reason we cannot take appointments with specific threaders.
Do you take male clients?
Yes we do! We welcome men into our salon for almost all our services. Threading is something that should be done by men just as women. Unless you are going for the crazy “Einstein” eyebrow look come and see why threading your eyebrows will make your eyes stand out. Don’t forget to wax that unwanted body hair or get a facial to keep you looking younger!
When I walk in I sometimes see a lot of people waiting, how can I minimize my wait time?
We can get busy at times, but usually we know our peak periods and staff accordingly. The only exception is during holiday seasons we can’t seem to have enough staff and for those periods we ask for your patience or try and book an appointment if you are on a time crunch. Our average wait times most days are under 15 minutes for the first available threader. If you request someone wait times can be longer.
Can I put my name on the walk-in the list over the phone?
I’m sorry we cannot take your name over the phone. We work by a first come first served basis to make it equal and fair for everyone. If time is an issue feel free to make an appointment that way you can be in and out quickly. Note we do not take appointments within the hour of your call to be fair to walk-in clients.
How long does threading take to do?
While we know many threading places can whip you in and out in 5-10 minutes that is not our style. Unfortunately with speed come cuts and left hairs. We train each of our threaders to take their time with each client to make sure this doesn’t happen. For most people eyebrows will take 15-30 minutes.
Why does the thread break constantly?
When threading, the threader will maintain the thread as taught as possible to make sure it doesn’t snag the skin. The main reason cuts happen is because the thread is lose and snags skin when crossing the skin surface. We train our threaders to keep the thread as tight as needed to avoid cuts and this sometimes causes the thread to break frequently.
What is the difference between a threader who holds the thread in their mouth or just with their hands?
In different parts of the world threading techniques can vary. All methods provide the same result but really it is just a matter of preference for each threader and how they were trained.
What kind of thread do you use?
We use a thread made in India that is specifically made for threading. Unlike normal sewing thread, threading thread is smoother and slightly thicker. We buy the highest quality thread available to ensure you have as gentle a threading experience as possible.
What kind of wax do you use?
We use three different kinds of waxes depending on what part of the body is getting waxed. We use very high-quality professional use only waxes from Belgium. The green pine resin wax is for most of the body. The creamy sensitive resin wax is for sensitive areas. Lastly, we use Brazilian blue wax for the bikini area. Always feel free to ask your esthetician any questions about our waxes and services.
Is threading better than waxing?
Well, it depends. We recommend threading for facial areas, but you may also wax if you want. For the remainder of the body, we only provide waxing services. We use very high quality wax from Europe and maintain the highest hygienic standards. Our staff is very well trained and will be glad to answer any questions before starting any waxing service.
Does threading take hair from the root?
Yes threading takes hair from the root. With threading, you can take a single hair or a row of hairs all by the root which is why threading provides great results for eyebrows.
Does threading cause my hair to come back thicker or darker?
No threading will not make your hair come back thicker or darker. If anything it may reduce hair growing back over time.
Does threading or waxing hurt more?
Most people find threading to be less painful than waxing. It is individual but over time your body adjusts to either method and it becomes more routine. One benefit of threading over waxing is that it won’t remove layers of skin like waxing will. This will help in preventing premature lines or wrinkles.
