FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT?
1.
We do accept walk-ins but highly recommend making an appointment in advance to avoid long wait times. Please be 5-10 minutes early as we have short appointment times and you may risk losing your appointment if you are late. If you are unable to keep your appointment we would appreciate a phone call with in 24 hours if at all possible.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WAXING & THREADING?
2.
Threading is the process of spinning thread over hair, causing the hair to wrap around the string. Subsequently pulling the hair out from the root.
Waxing uses a thin layer of wax to trap the hair. The wax is then pulled off the skin and in turn, pulls the hair out with it. With both options, when done properly, there is very minimal disruption to the skin. Discussing the options further with your brow artist will allow you to be able to decide what technique works best for you.
3.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
If you are unable to keep your appointment we would appreciate a phone call within 24 hours if possible so another guest may get in.
If your appointment is 45 minutes or longer we may require a credit card number to hold your appointment. You will not be charged unless you fail to cancel within 24 hours.
4.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BROW DESIGN AND A EYEBROW THREADING APPOINTMENT?
Our Brow Design service offers you an understanding of every step as we shape your eyebrows and help you grow in and maintain your best eyebrow shape. This service is specifically for first-time clients. An Eyebrow Threading appointment is intended for those with an established eyebrow-care regimen. The service includes a brief consultation, shaping, and finishing, and takes15-20 minutes to complete. Your first appointment will generally be a brow design and each appointment after that would be a maintenance appointment.
5.
WHAT IS A LASH LIFT?
A lash lift works with your natural lashes to create a luscious semi-permanent curl that will last between 6-8 weeks. We use a technique combining lifting lotion and silicone rods to lift your natural lashes, making them look longer and fuller. We recommend lash lifts as a great alternative to eyelash extensions.
6.
HOW MUCH IS A LASH LIFT CALGARY?
Great questions! A professional Lash lift in Calgary will cost you $85.
7.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
We suggest 3-4 weeks for eyebrow and facial threading and every 4-6 weeks for body waxing. It will become easier over time as the hair follicle will have less grip and you may experience less hair growth over time.
8.
HOW LONG SHOULD MY HAIR BE FOR WAXING?
The hair should be at least 1/4 - 1/2 inches for best results. If your hair is too long we recommend shaving and then making your appointment for 2-3 weeks later.
The hair grows in stages so it may take up to three waxing treatments to achieve a completely smooth look. Please refrain from shaving in between appointments as this will interrupt the process.
WILL I GET INGROWN HAIRS?
9.
It is possible. Start an exfoliation routine 2 days after waxing (exfoliating gloves are available at Lavoom Salon) to help prevent ingrown hairs and continue to exfoliate 1-2 times a week after. Please be gentle. Please see our “after you wax” tips for more suggestions on what to expect and how to avoid ingrown hairs.
WHAT IS A BROW LAMINATION?
10.
Eyebrow lamination is the latest beauty secret that will thicken and enhance your natural brows. Similar to the idea of a lash lift, brow lamination involves the application of a setting lotion that gives the brow hair a semi-permanent “brushed up” and lifted look. Whether you have thin, thick, or over-plucked eyebrows, brow laminating is the perfect solution to give you the everyday look you want, without effort.
11.
HOW LONG DOES A BROW LAMINATION LAST?
A brow lamination will last about 6 weeks. In the 48 hours following your treatment, you can apply a hydrating balm or castor oil to your brows daily. We also recommend brushing your brows in an upright/styled position anytime following a shower (or after getting your brows wet) to help keep their new shape.
12.
WHAT DO I DO AFTER MY WAX?
Try to refrain from exercising, swimming or tight clothing that may irritate the area within the first 24 hours.
Do not get any direct sunlight on the freshly waxed area within the first 24 hours.
Wait 24-48 hours and then gently exfoliate the area with your exfoliating gloves or loofah.
Follow up with an ingrown hair product.
Doing this will help restore your skin’s suppleness and weaken hair follicles, inhibiting future growth. This will help banish bumps and ingrown hairs.
Continue to exfoliate 1-2 times a week so pores don’t get clogged, creating bumps and ingrown hairs.
If redness or swelling occurs frequently, you can apply a 1% hydrocortisone creme to the area up to 3 times a day.
If large or deep bumps occur, applying a warm compress can help bring the hair up to the surface quicker.
IS IT OK TO SHAVE BETWEEN WAX APPOINTMENTS?
13.
No. Please do not shave between waxing appointments! Shaving can disrupt the hair growth cycle and irritate follicles which can cause ingrown hair.
