Bridal Makeup Touch-up

Depending on how long your event is, you may need to touch-up your makeup. Factors such as oil, sweat and oxidation of the foundation (which causes a darkening of the shade when in contact with the surrounding air) will alter the way our makeup looks.

Hence, keeping an on-the-go makeup kit would be handy to help with this problem, where we always stash the products we know we’ll need to touch up throughout the day – like lipstick, powder and maybe eyeliner. But how do we really keep our makeup looking fresh without piling on the products and looking ‘cakey’? That’s where we give you some tips below.

Those with oily and combination skin are prone to shine taking over on the face, and we don’t mean the glowy, healthy highlight type. To touch up, don’t dust your loose or compact powder directly on top of the shiny areas. Although this may immediately eliminate the shine, you are essentially applying powder on the oil that’s sitting on your face.

Instead, grab a soft facial tissue and gently blot the excess oil away, before taking a clean powder puff, a dense foundation brush or makeup sponge, and blend the areas without any product. This ensures your foundation is blended back into the crevices of your skin for a seamless finish, without adding more unnecessary products. Once done, apply a light layer of powder only to the areas that will most likely produce shine again. Less is always more!

Attention to all our dry skin girls: if face mist isn’t already, it’s now going to be your new best friend. Because applying moisturizer over your foundation throughout the day is just not going to cut it. A face mist is the most feasible – and dare we say, most glamorous – option. Once you start to feel your skin getting ‘tight’ and dry from being in an air-conditioned office all day, whip out a hydrating face mist or even setting spray, to spritz all over your face and decolletage. Besides adding moisture to revive your makeup, the refreshing spray will also keep you alert to take on the rest of the day.

Look out for ingredients such as rose water, plant extracts and caffeine for the most effective touch-up spray. One with SPF would be an added bonus, as we are recommended to reapply every two hours or so to keep sun damage at bay. Make your own by diluting some of your favourite toners with water and adding a few drops of organic essential oils before pouring the mixture into a spray bottle.

Cream products always look more natural than their powder counterparts, so we recommend you keep a cream blush and contour/ highlight stick in your makeup kit for touch-ups. After re-blending your foundation or misting your face, dab on some cream blush to your cheeks for a healthy, natural glow. Your colleagues will think you took some time to brisk walk during your toilet break.

Do the same with your cream contour and highlight, but always be sure to apply sparingly and build up only if needed.

With Our Makeup Services, you can now you can say goodbye to bad makeup days!

Why should I pay for a bridal trial??

Approximately 3 hours of our time goes into your bridal trial. Sometimes this application process is more work than the day of your wedding. A bridal trial includes prep, 1 on 1 time with me (however long we need to achieve your desired look), Post organization: photos, products used and application are all documented not only for my use, but for your benefit (so you can go stock up on your favourite products)

Do you offer bridal trials?

Yes, Connecting with our clients is very important. We offer an initial 30 minute phone or consultation so we have the opportunity to get to know each other. Once we have met, we will schedule your bridal trial. A la carte bridal services do not include a trial. See "bridal" for more details.

Do you style hair?

Our team is able to provide hair styling services

Can you service a large group or bridal party?

Yes, We are more than happy to service a large bridal party with the support of a makeup assistant. We are also able to provide experiences for groups, please contact me with details, and we will be happy to build a group experience with you.

Do you offer discounts and/or extended packages if booking for multiple days/ceremonies/functions?

When is the best time to book my consultation with you?

We would love to meet or chat with you as soon as possible after we first connect, this way we can establish a relationship and ensure we are the right fit for each other. Wedding trials may be booked anytime prior to your wedding. We recommended that your wedding trial is booked and done approximately 4-8 weeks prior to the wedding date. This way, most of the details of your wedding are finalized, you have your dress and a clear idea how you would like to look. The trial time is also used to confirm the final details, itinerary, set up and more. *If the trial is booked too early, details of the wedding may change or may not be finalized. You may also change your vision during this time.

What do I need to have ready for a bridal trial session?

Prior to your trial please set you up a mood board, this way we can reference images of your desired makeup look together. You are able to add any photos that put a smile on your face (including dresses, flowers and colors). Everything you add helps us learn more about you. Please bring important timing details such as hair appointments, ceremony times and location details. If I am styling your hair, please bring any hair accessories you want to use

How long does a bridal makeup application take?

Please allow approximately 45 minutes for the bride's makeup application, and 30 minutes for each additional client. Timing can vary slightly depending on the the styles and looks being executed that day as requested by each individual client.

What happens if someone wants their makeup done last minute and was not already booked?

This happens on a regular basis. When others notice that there is a makeup artist on location they ditch their own brushes and head over to the makeup station. Depending on time we may be able to accommodate this, but of course the client that booked ahead of time have priority and we will not rush a client to fit in extra faces. Clients will be treated as if there was no one waiting to have a service. If we do have time, all prices will be as listed.

How far in advance should clients book your services?

It's best to book your experience at least 5 months in advance (for brides), or as soon as possible, especially for those clients with wedding dates in the spring/summer months as they tend to be the busiest and book very fast.

How do I book and secure my wedding date/services? Do you require a deposit fee?

A non-refundable 40% deposit is required to secure your wedding date and experience. This fee will be a portion of the package booked, and will be deducted from the total price at the end. All bookings are confirmed once we have a copy of your signed contract.

Can I cancel my booking/contract?

We require a written notice of cancellation one month prior to event date. Payments/fees will still apply as outlined in your services contract.

Do you travel to the client on the day of the event? If yes, is there a fee?

We offer mobile services for weddings and events. This means we will travel to your house, a salon, or hotel- wherever you choose to get ready. This ensures you have a relaxing, stress free time preparing for the day.

Will you travel far for my wedding?
